Shelter Box

ShelterBox Canada

ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity established in 2000 in the UK. ShelterBox and Rotary are official Project Partners in international disaster relief.  They provide emergency shelter and other aid items to families around the world who have lost their homes to disaster or conflict.

ShelterBox Canada has been a part of the global ShelterBox network since 2010.  It is dedicated to raising awareness and funds to help support families around the world who have been devastated by disaster or conflict.

A typical ShelterBox contains a high-tech family tent, blankets, a cook stove and dishes, water purification, solar light, mosquito net and more.  Essentially, it provides a family with the supplies they need to survive after a disaster.

The Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland has funded ShelterBoxes since 2006 as follows:

2006 – 1 ShelterBox – Uganda – floods

2010 – 2 ShelterBoxes – Haiti – earthquake

2011 – 1 ShelterBox – Pakistan – floods and landslides
